Portland State football coach Bruce Barnum has an offer that would be hard to turn down.

This week, the Vikings leading man offered to buy beer for fans’ beer all game if they attend the home opener against Western Oregon on Saturday. That’s certainly a strategy that will catch some attention.

“I’m not buying your ticket, but I’ll buy your beer,” Barnum told The Oregonian’s John Canzano during an appearance on his podcast. Barnum was asked how many beers he would be willing to buy, and his answer was “all of them.”

Portland State, which sits at 0-2 on the season, may just be poised for a sellout crowd.

Portland State started the season with back-to-back losses to Hawaii and Washington State. They’ll be looking to get back on track Saturday night at Hillsboro Stadium against Western Oregon with kickoff scheduled for 5:04 p.m. ET.

If the fans do show up, Hillsboro Stadium has a capacity of 10,000, so Barnum could be facing a hefty tab.
