Who will be the first quarterback benched during the 2021-22 NFL regular season? With teams working their way down to a 53-man roster by today’s deadline, depth charts are being set and we know who will be under center when the season kicks off.
But for some quarterbacks, there isn’t much room for error and the backup quarterback is ready for the opportunity to take the job.
The oddsmakers took a look at the quarterback situations for all 32 teams across the league and set odds on who the most likely signal-caller to be benched (non-injury related) could be.
If you’re Andy Dalton, you won’t like this news cause he is the clear front-runner to be the first quarterback sent to the bench. With first-round pick Justin Fields itching for the opportunity to play and fans seemingly wishing Fields was their Day 1 starter, the cries for Fields to start could eventually become to loud to ignore.
You also have Teddy Bridgewater, who was named the starter over Drew Lock, and Jimmy Garoppolo, who is just ahead of another first-round pick, Trey Lance, near the top of the list.
So who else could be in danger of being benched (non-injury related) early this season?
