Sha’Carri Richardson’s return to the track did not go as planned.
After missing out on the Tokyo Olympics due to a failed drug test for marijuana following the U.S. Olympic trials, Richardson returned to competition on Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon.
Richardson ran against Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson, who swept the podium at the Olympics.
Unfortunately for Richardson, the rust was evident as she finished in last place.
Despite the disappointing showing, Richardson remained in high spirits and promised there was more to come.
“This is one race. I’m not done. Count me out if you want to,” Richardson said in a post-race interview on NBC. “Talk all the shit you want to! You know what I can do!”

Richardson will also compete in the 200m at the Prefontaine Classic, so she will have the opportunity to immediately bounce back from her minor setback to start the day.
