OnlyFans is getting out of the porn business.
On Thursday, August 19, the surprising announcement came that the company will ban sexually explicit content from its platform beginning on October 1.
OnlyFans, which grew its platform mainly because of nude photos and videos being made available by content creators for their fans on a subscription base, claims outside pressure from banking partners and advertisers is what led to the decision.
“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,” said OnlyFans, via Bloomberg.
There will be a loophole, however, with nude photos being allowed as long as they do not violate the website’s “Acceptable Use Policy.”
