Paige Spiranac has never been shy about taking shots at Bryson DeChambeau, so it comes as no surprise that she jumped on the opportunity to take a jab at the golfer on social media.
Shortly after DeChambeau made comments blaming his driver for his struggles in Round 1 of The Open Championship, Spiranac threw some not-so-subtle shade.
“Just saying it’s not great if you’re paying someone a lot of money and they say your driver sucks just because they can’t find the sweet spot,” Spiranac wrote on Twitter. “We already know Brooks (Koepka) is going to have a Cobra driver in the bag next week.”
After DeChambeau’s comments, where he said his Cobra driver “sucks,” there was some very public backlash from a company spokesperson.
“It’s like an 8-year-old that gets mad at you,” Cobra tour operations manager Ben Schomin who caddied for DeChambeau just two weeks ago after he split with his former caddie, said. “They might fly off the handle and say, ‘I hate you.’ But then you go. ‘Whoa, no you don’t.'”
DeChambeau has since apologized for his comments.
DeChambeau is once again off to a rocky start. Through six holes on Friday, DeChambeau is 2-over par and sits at +3 for the tournament.
