NFL Star Richard Sherman Arrested For ‘Burglary Domestic Violence’; Denied Bail

UPDATE: Details are starting to surface surrounding Richard Sherman’s Wednesday morning arrest.

Sherman was reportedly uncooperative and combative during questioning with police officers. The future Hall of Famer was struggling with police enough to the point that a police K9 was released to help take down Sherman and help bring him into custody.

According to TMZ Sports:

Police are now investigating Sherman for a possible hit-and-run and DUI after cops say he crashed his car an hour or so before his arrest. Officials say Sherman hit a barrier in a construction zone on a highway at around 1 AM … and then still drove the car — despite popped tires — away from the area. Cops say Sherman then abandoned the ride at a local parking lot off the exit.

NFL star Richard Sherman is currently behind bars in Seattle, Washington.

According to TMZ Sports, Sherman was arrested for “burglary domestic violence” and denied bail. He was booked into the King County Correctional Facility in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old NFL free agent remains behind bars, and few details about the incident are available at this time.

The burglary domestic violence charge is a felony in the state of Washington and, if convicted, would carry a lengthy prison sentence.

The NFLPA released a statement on Sherman’s arrest.

“We were made aware of an arrest last night of one of our player leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved,” the statement read. “We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”
