Predictably, Joe Schilling could be facing potential criminal charges after he was caught on a viral video knocking a man unconscious inside of a Florida bar.

The professional kickboxer and mixed martial artist viciously knocked out the man with a flurry of punches and could face one misdemeanor charge of simple battery for the incident, according to MMAFighting.com.

The man who Schilling knocked unconscious was Justin Balboa, a 31-year-old busboy at a local Outback Steakhouse. According to management at the bar where the incident took place, Balboa “is a regular customer who routinely causes problems at the establishment due to his intoxication level.”

Other witnesses agreed that Balboa initiated the confrontation.

Balboa initially told authorities he wanted to document the incident to file a civil suit against the bar. However, he now has followed up with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department after the video went viral and said that he wants to press charges.

Robert Solomon, Balboa’s attorney, said that his client was treated at the hospital for a head injury.

“I think a professional fighter overreacted to a situation, that he didn’t need to do what he did,” Solomon added, “and to punch somebody as hard as he punched this guy, he’s lucky he’s not dead and we’re dealing with a different type of case.”

Schilling has not addressed the incident outside of his original comments which claimed self-defense.
