Former Heisman Trophy winner, personal punt protector, and minor league baseball player Tim Tebow is attempting to play a new position in the NFL after nearly a decade out of the league.
Tebow is working out as a tight end at Jacksonville Jaguars OTAs in an attempt to land a spot on his good friend Urban Meyer’s roster, and it will be interesting to see how the story continues to develop leading up to the season.
But for now, as OTAs are officially underway, Coach Meyer gave the media an update on how Timmy Terrific is doing on the field.
Predictably, it was a positive review.
From For The Win:
“You wish you could see and do (more),” Meyer said. ”In spring football, you have full pads and scrimmages, and you can really evaluate, but it’s kind of tough right now.” …
“Oh, Tim has done a decent job. We all know this is a new position for him,” Meyer said. “He’s a great teammate. In the locker room, I can see everybody getting along, we have good chemistry on our team. But he’s picked it up decently.”
There is no denying Tebow is a great guy to have in the locker room. The question is whether he’ll be able to put it all together to be worth of an NFL roster spot.
If he can, Tebow would be a solid mentor for No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence and could help bring everyone together in the first season of a new era. Meyer is clearly trying to bring a new culture to Jacksonville, and he seems to be hoping Tebow can help along the way.
We just wonder whether Tebow will actually do anything productive on the field.
