Coco Gauff became the youngest American to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal since Venus Williams at the 1997 US Open, but things did not go as planned.
On Wednesday morning, Gauff fell in straight sets to Barbara Krejcikova, a 25-year-old from the Czech Republic.
Gauff seemed in control during the first set, but then things went terribly wrong.
The 17-year-old watched Krejcikova win two straight sets to force a tiebreaker, before going on to dominate the second set.
Gauff recorded 41 unforced errors, including seven double-faults.
As the frustration began to build, Gauff smashed her racket into the clay as her opponent began running away with the match.

Krejcikova, meanwhile, advances to the final on Thursday where she will take on either defending champion Iga Swiatek or No. 17 seed Maria Sakkari.
