Remember Tiger King? It was the Netflix docuseries that captivated everyone when the coronavirus lockdown first began, and now series star Jeff Lowe is back in the headlines.
According to TMZ, the feds showed up at his zoo in Thackerville, Oklahoma as part of an ongoing investigation and seized dozens of cats from the property.
Among the seized animals were 68 total cats, including lions, tigers, lion-tiger hybrids, and a jaguar.
From the report:
According to the feds … the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service conducted 3 inspections of the park since mid-December 2020, and during those inspections, the Lowes “received citations for failing to provide the animals with adequate or timely veterinary care, appropriate nutrition” and shelter that allows for normal behavior and protects them from bad weather.
Lowe also failed to employ a qualified veterinarian and failed to create a program that would have met the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act.
That’s not a great look, Jeff.
We have to wonder how Joe Exotic feels about the latest news.
