Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke to reporters on Friday and, of course, the topic of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers came up.
Rodgers has made it clear that he has no desire to return to Green Bay, but LaFleur is desperately hoping for a change of heart.
When asked to provide an update on Rodgers, LaFleur had nothing new to offer, but he did make a plea for Rodgers to return to the team.
“I’ve got nothing new to update,” LaFleur said, via TMZ Sports. “We still obviously feel the same way, we want him back in the worst way.
“I know he knows that. We’ll continue to work at it each and every day.”
Saying “I want you back in the worst way” is something a high schooler may say when they have their heart broken by a prom date, but in this case, the head coach clearly knows his team is better off with a future Hall of Famer under center.
Whether Rodgers will eventually change his mind and return to his long-lost lover remains to be seen, but he has yet to indicate any such thing and for now, it looks like Rodgers is content on the sidelines.
