Tommy Tuberville, a former longtime college football coach at Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati, has a message for incoming NFL draftees.

The former head coach, who is now an Alabama Senator, warned the rookie class that they should avoid talking politics and stick to what they know.

Interesting advice considering Tuberville’s career path, but what can you do.

“Nobody’s looking for an outspoken person,” Tuberville said, via TMZ Sports. “We’re too divided as it is. Everybody wants to make an opinion and that’s fine. But, I think, especially for young people to get involved in something that maybe they might not understand as much, I think they need to let people that, whatever they do for a living, justify it.

“I’d just like to see our country be more settled down in terms of people getting into politics or in sports and vice versa.”

Unfortunately for Tuberville and those who want the young athletes to “stick to sports,” that’s just not the way today’s culture is and some players have already been outspoken about politics.

So don’t expect that to change anytime soon.
