The New Orleans Saints are coming into the upcoming NFL season without Drew Brees under center. That is a major change for the organization and head coach Sean Payton has a tall task at hand.

Recently, Payton discussed how the Saints will prepare for the 2021 regular season knowing the future Hall of Fame quarterback won’t be leading the offense.

While you would expect the team to take a much different approach, Payton claims things won’t be changing much.

“The approach is still the same though,” Payton said, via NOLA.com. “We’ve got a good core group of young, talented players that have won a lot of games and have experienced that taste of the postseason. I think you build your team around that.

“Is there an elevated level of excitement? I think it’s the same. As a coach, you owe it to that roster to work hard and put them in the best position to have success.”

It will be interesting to see how the Saints offense will change going from a traditional quarterback like Brees to a more explosive option like Jameis Winston or versatile weapon like Taysom Hill, but if Payton keeps a consistent approach to preparation it could end up helping everyone and the team move forward with a cohesive approach.

Whoever ends up with the role of replacing Brees, they have a tall task at hand.
