Molly Toon Lillard, a former University of Michigan volleyball star and daughter of Wisconsin football great Al Toon, was killed over the weekend in what is believed to be a murder-suicide.

According to the Detroit News, the 28-year-old was found with gunshot wounds in front of her house.

The suspected shooter was Lillard’s husband, Royce Lillard III, who barricaded himself in the home when police arrived. Once contact was eventually made, Lillard was found dead inside of the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The couple’s 8-month-old child was in the home at the time of the suspected murder-suicide, but was unharmed.

During her time as a standout on the Michigan Wolverines volleyball team, Lillard was a four-time letterwinner and was an All-American honorable mention.

Our deepest condolences go out to Lillard’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.
