Former NFL running back Eddie George is hoping a former NFL head coach will join his coaching staff at Tennessee State University.
According to reports, George is hoping for former Las Vegas Raiders (then Oakland) and Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson to join his coaching staff as the program’s offensive coordinator.
ProFootballScoop.com was first to report the news.
George’s staff will be loaded with recognizable names.
On the defensive side of the ball, George is reportedly set to hire Brandon Fisher, the son of former Titans Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, will serve as defensive coordinator.
Jeff Fisher will serve as an adviser.
There are also reports that George, who was drafted by the Houston Oilers and played for the Tennessee Titans in Nashville where Tennessee State is located, could ask Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis to join the defensive staff.
Tennessee State plays at the FCS level in the Ohio Valley Conference. Another FCS team is Jackson State, where Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is head coach, so the division is certainly bringing in big names among its coaching ranks.
