The NFL is considering a rule change that would bring a much different look to the game.
Sure, it may not impact how the game is played, but it would change the way things appear on the field and make it similar to the college game by allowing running backs, defensive backs, and linebackers to wear single-digit jersey numbers.
The proposal to loosen jersey number restrictions will be voted on by team owners at the upcoming league meeting.
Along with running backs, defensive backs, and linebackers, the proposed rule change would also allow fullbacks, tight ends, H-backs, and wide receivers to wear single-digits.
Quarterbacks, punters, and kickers would still be required to wear numbers 1 to 19, linemen would still wear 50 to 79, and defensive linemen and linebackers could also wear 90 to 99, according to ProFootballTalk.
Because the proposal doesn’t change anything regarding how the game is played, will anyone vote no?
