Justin Fields is one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft class and he put up a number scouts will love to see at Ohio State’s Pro Day on Tuesday.
Fields was one of the many Buckeyes draft hopefuls working out for NFL scouts when he stepped up to the line for the 40-yard dash.
There was plenty of interest in Fields’ 40 time, and he delivered in a big way.
According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, Fields clocked a blazing fast 4.43 at 6-foot-3, 228-pounds. That’s the type of time that will get offices excited.

Fields’ time is the second-fastest 40-yard dash for a quarterback prospect since Baylor’s Robert Griffin III ran a 4.41 back in 2012, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
There is little doubt that Fields will be a first-round pick, but it will be interesting to see where he falls.
Fields could go as high as No. 2 to the New York Jets, though it is believed they prefer BYU’s Zach Wilson, or he could slide to the middle of Round 1. But with so many quarterback-needy teams this offseason, Fields is going to have plenty of potential suitors when draft day rolls around.
Last season, Fields threw for 2,100 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions while adding 383 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground while helping to lead the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff National Championship against Alabama. Of course, it was a shortened season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In his last full season in 2019, Fields threw for 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns, and just three interceptions with another 10 scores on his feet.
The 2021 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 29, and run through Saturday, May 1.
