Francis Ngannou delivered another highlight-reel knockout on Saturday night at UFC 260, flatlining Stipe Miocic to win the UFC heavyweight championship.

Almost immediately after the fight, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones took to Twitter to generate some buzz for a potential showdown with the new champ in the future.

Jones vacated the light heavyweight title and has been working on bulking up for a move to heavyweight, and he’s hoping to immediately fight for the belt.

Of course, UFC president Dana White had something to say.

When asked about Jones’ tweet following Ngannou’s knockout which read “show me the money,” White questioned whether Jones actually wants the fight while saying Ngannou vs. Derrick Lewis makes the most sense.

“Oh, Derrick Lewis is the fight to make,” White said, as transcribed by My MMA News. “But if Jon Jones really wants that fight…listen, it’s one thing to go out, and tweet, and say you want it, and ‘I put on the weight and I did this and that,’ do you want the fight? I promise you we can call Derrick Lewis and one of these other heavyweights, and they want the fight.

“If Jon Jones really wants the fight, Jon Jones knows he can get the fight. All he’s got to do is call and do it.”

Jones must have been paying attention

Jones went on to tweet and then delete a message saying he has a call coming up with the UFC next week to discuss the possibility of making the fight happen.

“Talked to the UFC about giving me a proposal next week, I’ll let you know how it goes,” he wrote. “’ll be 100% upfront with you guys… I’ll let you guys tell me if I’m asking for ridiculous numbers or not.”

We’ll have to see how this all plays out, but Ngannou vs. Jones would be a must-see fight for any mixed martial arts fan.
