Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. came into the NFL in 2020 wearing the No. 11. So when new quarterback Carson Wentz joined the roster, all eyes were on his jersey number.
Wentz has worn No. 11 throughout his five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and during his career at North Dakota State, but now he will have to find a new number to rock.
According to Pittman, he spoke with Wentz but will not be giving up the No. 11.
Pittman told TMZ Sports, “I am No. 11.”
But don’t worry, Colts fans, there is no bad blood between the pass catcher and his quarterback.
“I spoke to [Carson] and he was just seeing how locked in I was to No. 11, and I told him I was locked in — and he was like, ‘That’s cool, bro, because I’m probably gonna switch anyway,'” Pittman said. “He asked me very respectfully and I just appreciated him for that.
“I think he’s a great dude, because lots of guys with his status, they would come in and demand and stuff like that.”
As for what number Wentz will wear with his team, we will have to wait and see. As long as he lights up the box score, no one will care what number is on his jersey.
