The 2020 Tokyo Olympics were called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the hopes of hosting the Summer Games later in 2021.
That plan, however, appeared to be in jeopardy after a report from the Times of London which claimed the Olympics were in jeopardy of being canceled once again.
“No one wants to be the first to say so but the consensus is that it’s too difficult,” the source said in the report. “Personally, I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
Luckily, Toyko Olympics officials have stepped up and refuted the report, saying their focus remains on hosting the games this year.
The Summer Games are currently scheduled to begin on July 23 with the opening ceremony, but there will be no fans allowed in the venues due to the ongoing global pandemic.
