Stimulus checks were sent out beginning this week, but there are a handful of issues that have already led to delays.

According to reports on social media, H&R Block and Turbo Tax have had issues that have caused issues for many eligible taxpayers.

“Today, millions of Americans will receive a second stimulus payment as the IRS set January 4 as the official payment date of all direct deposits for stimulus money. The IRS has shared that most people will receive their second stimulus payment as a direct deposit. However, if not, people will receive their second stimulus payment in the mail as either a check or U.S. Treasury debit card, likely by the end of January,” a press release read.

“In addition, the IRS Get My Payment website will go live soon, allowing people to look up where their second stimulus payment has been sent. As people search for answers about their second stimulus payment, H&R Block has tools and live expert help to assist its customers.”

The New York Post added:

H&R Block said it would deliver the money to customers based on how they chose to receive their last refund, means some people would get the money by direct deposit, others by check and others still via a prepaid debit card. But the debit cards present another set of potential problems for customers of H&R Block and TurboTax, which both said it expected people to use the same cards they used during tax season to receive their stimulus money.

Customers whose debit card accounts are closed or no longer active, however, will see their stimulus funds returned to the IRS. The feds will then have to send the affected taxpayers a paper check, which would take longer.

Individual taxpayers who make less than $75,000 are eligible for $600 checks, while married couples filing jointly who make less than $150,000 will receive $1,200.

$600 will also be paid for all dependent children under the age of 17.

Those who do not receive their tax returns via direct deposit will still receive stimulus checks by mail.

Spend responsibly.
