Sarah Fuller’s football career has come to an end.

Fuller, who plays goalkeeper for the Vanderbilt women’s soccer team, joined the Commodores football program this season to help with kicking woes.

It was a historic moment, but COVID-19 related issues have forced this weekend’s Georgia-Vanderbilt game to be canceled because Vandy doesn’t have enough players to field a team.

Before joining the Commodores, Fuller helped lead Vanderbilt to the SEC Championship.

β€œIt looks like my time as a football player has come to an end. I would like to personally thank the entire Vanderbilt football team, coaches, and support staff for this amazing opportunity to be part of this program,” a statement read.

“I was accepted as an athlete and a true member of this team. This is an experience that I will never forget and cherish forever. Good luck to the seniors and staff who are moving on to new adventures. My best wishes to the team as this program moves forward and continues to grow.”

During her time with the team, Fuller scored two extra points to become the first woman to score in a Power 5 game.

While her time on the gridiron may be over, Fuller will return to the soccer field next spring for the NCAA Tournament.
