Earning a 99 overall rating in Madden means that a player is one of the truly elite all-around talents in the NFL. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a player that definitely fits that category. Mahomes is one of four players confirmed in the prestigious 99 Club according to leaked Madden 21 player ratings. Mahomes is joined by Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffery, Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald and New England Patriots corner Stephon Gilmore as 99 overall rated players in the latest installment of the franchise.
EA Sports’ 99 Club ratings were leaked in a Madden 21 gameplay screenshot by Twitter user LeadingNFL on July 12. The ratings in the screenshot looked legitimate since Mahomes, McCaffery, Donald and Gilmore are all elite NFL talents who are worthy of 99 overall ratings. Along with the four members of the 99 overall club, San Franciso 49ers tight end George Kittle, New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas and Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins are displayed as 98 overall players in the screenshot. EA Sports claims that there are more than four players who earned a 99 overall rating, which means that the information in the leaked screenshot might not be completely accurate.
So far, EA Sports has officially leaked rookie ratings for Madden 21 at the quarterback and wide receiver positions before the game’s August 25 release. Mahomes is the only player at the moment who has been officially confirmed as a member of the game’s 99 Club. Along with the honor of earning a 99 overall rating in Madden 21, 99 Club players also received some swag. EA Sports gifted players with a 99 Club black box and a 99 gold chain.
Along with an NFL and Super Bowl LIV MVP, Mahomes can now officially add Madden’s 99 Club to his already stellar resume.
