The XFL’s grand opening weekend is finished and I thought it was the logical time to cut through the bullshitt and go straight to the NSFWBDs to get their opinion on how Week 1 went for Vince McMahon‘s new version of his old football league. A quick look through the BD world tells me that they’re fascinated by having reporters interviewing these guys right after big plays. They also love the big hits.
The bad: it’s still minor league football in front of 15,000 people. The AAF looked good Week 1 in 2019 and then the league was forgotten soon after. The good news for people going forward is that the league will either be on Fox, ABC, FS1 or ESPN2. None of this CBSSN like the AAF. You’ll actually be able to find the games.
The other thing I noticed watching like an hour of the action is that Vince left out the ridiculousness of the early version of the XFL. Remember the original XFL coin toss back in the day? Yeah, none of that this time around. And the new XFL kickoff is pretty cool.
Vince is prepared to lose a ton of money on this football league so get used to it being on TV.
