Ben Roethlisberger sold his Pittsburgh dream house with a No. 7 painted at the bottom of the pool for $2,200,000, according to the Zillow real estate listing. Purchased in 2006 for $2.2 million, the house was shown on an episode of Shaq Vs. and I’m pretty sure that was the first time any of us saw that Big Ben had that No. 7 on the pool floor. There might’ve also been an episode of Cribs, if I remember correctly. I seem to remember some sort of basketball court action next to the pool.
Whatever the case, Big Ben has sold and it’s unclear where the family is now residing as he is rehabbing that injured elbow that has him out the whole year. I hate to go all Schefty here, but it goes: Is Roethlisberger selling to retire and move out of Pittsburgh? I’ve said it multiple times — you don’t put a No. 7 at the bottom of the pool and then leave that dream house before the end of your career. Too many memories in that house. I just feel like it takes a massive life changing situation to up and leave the nearly 12,000-foot house you’ve been living in since 2006.
I smell a storyline for Jason La Canfora this week on the CBS pregame show. The Colts are in Pittsburgh. He needs to throw this out there and see if it can gather steam, maybe force Big Ben to make a statement. Remember how Schefty threw it out there about Tom Brady and him listing the family home for $39,500,000? I’m just sayin’. Get on it La Canfora.
