One of the most viral clips of Saturday was Oklahoma’s Sooner Schooner flipping over on the field during the game. I was watching the game live and saw this happen and my first two thoughts were, “holy shit,” and “I hope they’re all alive.” Most people on the internet had the same reaction as me and once we found out that everyone was fine, it was just a very funny internet clip.

The best part is this wasn’t a halftime show, Oklahoma does this after every single score. So this crash ended up delaying the game and ripping up the field so, naturally, it started going super viral. But these days, when a funny clip is going viral someone always has to come in and ruin it. In this case, it was our old friends at PETA:

Oklahoma has been running the Sooner Schooner since 1964. Is it kind of unnecessary, especially after every single score? Yes. Is it probably a little unsafe? Yes. BUT, stuff like this is what makes college sports great. No other country in the world has traditions as weird as the ones we do revolving around 18-year-old athletes. And that’s why America is such a special place. So I say, long live the Sooner Schooner! God Bless America and God Bless College Football.
