Iowa Football Coach Arrested For Telling Ref He’s “Going To F**king Kill” Him

Jason Storm, high school coach, mugshot after being arrested for threatening referee / via Polk County Jail

Des Moines Lincoln assistant football coach Jason Storm went crazy on a referee during a game last Friday night against Dowling Catholic when his son, Cayden Storm, was hit with what Jason thought was an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit that should’ve been flagged. Jason Storm rushed the field and allegedly told the ref he was “going to f**king kill” him before coaches held him back and ultimately led him out of the stadium.

Storm was later arrested for harassment and now we have ourselves a big story amongst the high school ranks in Iowa. Storm has lawyered up to handle the case and the lawyer says his client acted out because he just saw his son take a vicious hit to the head after suffering a concussion in 2018. The lawyer says Storm accepts responsibility for his actions and resigned his job of 15 seasons.

Now the father faces a first-degree harassment charge.

Look, it’s not like this is the first time or the last time this is going to happen. The thing is, coaches know there are going to be illegal shots and there’s nothing you can do about it because it’s the way the game is played. Jason flipped out because his son took what could be a devastating shot to his head down the road and his dad mode kicked in. Of course it wasn’t about the lack of a flag. However, it’s getting harder and harder to find refs who want to be yelled at so of course these schools are going to send people to jail for raging.

From the Des Moines Register:

Storm was booked into Polk County Jail early Wednesday and charged with first-degree harassment. A person convicted of the aggravated misdemeanor can be imprisoned for two years.

He appeared in court and was ordered released on his own recognizance; jail records showed that he had not yet been freed as of 9:30 a.m. He is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 20.

Here’s the hit that sent Des Moines Lincoln’s coach into a rage:
