University of North Carolina at Pembroke golfer Parker Melting describes herself on Instagram as “actually… a pretty average golfer,” but that doesn’t matter on IG where you can use video of only your best shots and turn yourself into what appears to be an above-average golfer. One thing leads to another and you’re influencing fit tea drinks.
You guys know that I’m big on NCAA athletes gobbling up as many IG followers as possible while in college. Use your time wisely, graduate and if the numbers are right, you become an influencer who can make a few dollars via brands. Let’s face it, if you’re playing golf at University of North Carolina at Pembroke there’s a good chance you’re going pro in something other than golf. Melting (just under 10k IG followers) seems to understand there’s an opportunity doing the IG thing. I’m telling you guys, there are IGs doing the celebrity golf tour and living a very nice life being hired guns.
If you’re an IGer who can golf, the ability to hang in social settings and have enough of a following, you’re going to end up on the circuit and brands are going to throw you cash your way.
Melting played in 21 rounds for UNCP during her freshman year and averaged a 79.4. Seems just fine to play in things like the American Century Championship event. Expect big things from her over the next three years. I tend to know a breakout star when I see one on IG.
