The Bears had no choice here
Word last week was that the Bears would release kicker Cody Parkey after the first year of the four-year deal he signed with the team last year.
In an appearance on NFL Network from the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, head coach Matt Nagy confirmed that Parkey is finished in Chicago. Parkey was 23-of-30 on field goals and 42-of-45 on extra points in his lone season with the Bears.
The Bears couldn’t bring Parkey back after that media tour over the missed field goal in the playoffs. No chance Cody was coming back into that environment where he went out crying as if there was some mass tragedy associated with his name. I’m still trying to figure out who from Parkey’s team thought it was a good idea to do the Today Show. Get ’em outta here…and that’s what Matt Nagey is going to do.
