Red Bull Invades Fenway Park with Crashed Ice Course

Rarely will I be the one to reach out to a brand rep after seeing an event on Instagram and think it’s cool enough to get up on a Saturday morning to post on BC because I have all sorts of other stuff going on like finishing up the basement floor tile project, but then it’s not everyday you see a giant ice racetrack in the middle of Fenway Park.

Red Bull Crashed Ice is in Boston for its final race in a series that also made stops in Japan and Finland. It’s like a dirt bike race on ice on a track placed in a baseball ballpark. Of course I’m going to be intrigued. The lighting is cool. The track is cool. The theory of taking winter and making it interesting right in the middle of a city is something spectators can get excited about and the NFL is done so I need something to keep my attention.

Enter Crashed Ice. I took a look at the photos sent in by Red Bull and for once, you don’t want to be down low. You want those upper deck seats to actually see down on the racing.

From Red Bull:

Saturday’s races will be fought for tooth-and-nail, side-by-side as today’s individual time trials set the stage for Men’s and Women’s Finals. Cameron Naasz of the USA proved to be the fastest man as he edged out the competition with a time of 32.10 seconds. Australian Marco Dallago finished just .34 seconds behind him with a time of 32.44. The Current World Championship points leader Kyle Croxall finished in a 27 standing.

Fellow American and reigning World Champion Amanda Trunzo continued her quest for back-to-back world titles, recording a dominant time trial run of 36.34 seconds. Anais Morand of Switzerland finished second .77 seconds later, followed by Canada’s Myriam Trepanier (-.94).

Our attention span these days is about 30-seconds so these races are perfect. Line up four competitors, give them the green light, bust ass for 30 seconds and do it all over again. Bring this to Comerica Park in Detroit and I’m there.

Watch all the Red Bull Crashed Ice action live from Boston on Red Bull TV February 9 at 8pm ET or catch it on Fox Sports 1 at 10pm ET.  Red Bull TV is distributed digitally as an app across mobile phones, tablets, consoles, OTT devices, Smart TVs and online at www.redbull.tv.

This just looks fun:
