Shoutout to the Cavaliers for making sure the NBA news cycle never dies this offseason. First we had Tristan Thompson “face mushing” Draymond Green, and now TMZ Sports reports NYPD is investigating JR Smith for allegedly stealing and throwing a fan’s cell phone outside a club Sunday morning.

From the report:

Law enforcement sources tell us … they got a call around 2:30 AM on Sunday morning from a guy who says he tried to take a picture with the Cleveland Cavs star outside of The Park, a hotspot in Chelsea.

Smith allegedly turned the fan down — telling him no photos — but he snapped one anyway … and Smith snapped too.

We’re told … Smith allegedly approached the fan and snatched the phone out of his hand and then launched it into a nearby construction zone. The fan claims his $800 phone was damaged and he has filed a report with police.

A Twitter user by the name “@_The_G0dfather” claimed it was his friend’s phone that was damaged:

And provided some details from the alleged incident:

I asked him for a pic but his bodyguard said not rn, which I understood and didn’t bother him after that. 5 mins later, my boy pulls out his phone, takes a snap, and JR comes over and launches that shit like a hail mary
