The state of New York is currently in a state of extreme terror after star outfielder Aaron Judge was forced to leave Thursday’s night game against the Royals.
As you can see below, Jakob Junis went up and in with 93 mph heat that ended catching Judge flush on his right wrist. It’s worth noting this occurred on a 2-2 count, so there probably wasn’t malice behind the pitch:

The good news? Judge stayed in the game and had a second at bat in the third inning (he singled), but was eventually lifted for a pinch hitter to take a trip to the hospital for an MRI.
Aaron Judge saw Yankees team Dr. Christopher Ahmad and is now on his way to the hospital for an MRI.
He was hit on the right hand/wrist by a pitch in the first inning. He stayed in and singled in his second AB, but was just pinch-hit for by Miguel Andujar in the 4th.

After getting hit by a pitch on his right wrist in the first inning, Aaron Judge is heading to New York Presbyterian Hospital to undergo an MRI. Was initially evaluated here at the ballpark, too.

The Yankees are currently 5.5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East and hold the top Wild Card spot. They recently bolstered their pitching staff by trading with the Blue Jays for left-handed pitcher JA Happ.
Obviously it would be such shame if this injury torpedoed the Yankees’ playoff hopes. It’s already been nine long seasons since they’ve won the World Series.
Update: The Judge has chip fracture in his wrist.
Tonight OF Aaron Judge sustained a chip fracture of the right wrist (ulnar styloid bone). No surgery has been recommended. The Yankees approximate a 3-week time period before Judge can swing a bat in a game situation.
