Conor McGregor Will Avoid Jail Time With Plea Deal After His UFC 223 Media Day Meltdown

Remember when Conor McGregor and his crew of Irishmen briefly lost their minds and started throwing dollies at buses inside the Barclays Center after UFC 223’s press conferences? And then Dana White said that he’ll be looking at some serious jail time? Guess what? Just as we all expected, Conor McGregor is not going to jail.

McGregor can thank his lawyers for that because it looks like they’ve struck a plea deal to keep the champ from behind bars, as well as avoid a deportation. This reported by TMZ Sports today:

Conor McGregor is one lucky scofflaw … because TMZ Sports has learned he’s on the verge of striking a deal in his New York City criminal case that will keep him in the U.S. and out of jail.
We’ve learned Conor’s lawyer is in the final stages of negotiating a plea deal in his felony mischief case … the case that was filed after the UFC champ unleashed his fury by hurling a dolly into a UFC bus, injuring 3 fighters. His target was UFC rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was not hurt.
Conor was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief and 3 counts of misdemeanor assault.
Sources familiar with the deal tell us, prosecutors have agreed to reduce the felony to a misdemeanor. That’s hugely significant because a felony involving violence could trigger permanent deportation from the U.S.

From the beginning, I thought there was a real chance that this was all a work to hype the fights that weekend. This certainly helps my argument. While Dana White was parading himself on morning debate shows the day before the fights saying that Conor was going to jail, it seemed like a real convenient way to promote a fight card nobody was that hyped about.

But knowing Conor, I can easily see him snapping and going ballistic like this. So who knows? If it was real, well he got lucky and avoided the clink. If it was a stunt, well they knew this was coming all along.

I don’t think Conor was worried
