It’s with great sadness that I inform you all that the 2019 NBA Championship has been decided in early July. The Warriors have it locked up (probably) after breaking the NBA yet again by replacing JaVale McGee with four-time All Star DeMarcus Cousins.
For real. Boogie stiff armed the Lakers and everyone else by agreeing to a one-year, $5.3 million per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:
Cousins will sign a one-year, $5.3M deal with Warriors, league source tells ESPN. https://t.co/LaTLH3oOTB

Cousins, of course, has been in a weird spot this free agency after tearing his left achilles. The fat contract he was after this summer did not come and he will instead try to win a ring, rehab his value, and maybe hit free agency again in 2019. A shrewd business decision that most of the country will hate!
So GM Bob Myers has replaced JaVale McGee with … Boogie Cousins. The $5.3M represents the taxpayer mid-level exception. Cousins is hopeful to return to the court by December/January off his torn Achilles. There will be no rush with Warriors. https://t.co/lYwGjxZchk

ESPN’s Chris Haynes tweets the Celtics were also in the running before Cousins made the easy choice.
Cousins and Bay Area fans have a bit of a history — the big man was fined $25,000 in 2017 for dishing out double middle fingers to a Warriors fan who will likely become his biggest fan next season.
