A lot can change in a month, but it appears Arizona big man DeAndre Ayton is the favorite to be picked number one overall at the 2018 NBA Draft. Ayton was a force in his lone controversial season at Arizona, beasting to the tune of 20 points and 11 rebounds per game despite being subjected to Sean Miller’s coaching.
It doesn’t matter what mock draft you look at, Ayton is the projected first pick over the likes of Luka Doncic and Marvin Bagley:
Basically it would be a massive upset if the Suns took Doncic over the prized big man who played a couple miles away. That being said, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony tweeted after the lottery it’s not a “done deal” and that the Suns do like Doncic:
Phoenix stands pat at #1. Big decision coming from them. Hearing Ayton is not a done deal there by any means. They've liked Doncic all year. Ayton is our favorite to go #1 right now, but there will be a process that needs to play out there.

Off the court, there’s bad news for the jersey chasers in Arizona as Ayton has a girlfriend in Anissa Evans. The two went IG official back in February:
According to Facebook, Anissa, also Bahamian, attended Queen’s College in Nassau after graduating from Jupiter High School. Look out for her in the NBA Draft green room in June.
