Call him a Quad-A masher all you want, I still have to blog about Angels outfielder Jabari Blash straight up murdering a pitch during Sunday’s game against the Mariners. It must be noted that this was a foul ball, but honestly it really doesn’t matter when the guy with the weird Kevin Youkilis stance and massive leg kicks deposits one out of Safeco Field:

Oh how sweet that would have been if it stayed fair. Nonetheless we have all these fun — albeit useless — Statcast metrics to spank one out to:

By the way, not joking about Blash’s stance… the leg kick is quite pronounced:
we need Jabari Blash in the majors in daily basis. pic.twitter.com/XG4rLH5vwt

And the setup to get to the leg kick is unorthodox to say the least:

According to Blash, he perfected this while playing baseball in Mexico over the offseason (via KSL.com):
“I wanted to implement a leg kick into my stance and I wanted to get the ball in the air a little bit more, so I went over to Mexico this offseason to work on it,” Blash said.
“And honestly, it was something that just happened, you know, it was something that just felt good and something that I kept tweaking, and this is what I end up with.”
Blash, now 28, was slashing a robust .350/.441/.850 with 10 home runs in Salt Lake City before getting the call from the Angels. Obviously we are hoping he sticks for good because who doesn’t want to see this work in the bigs?
You: "Do the Bees have any power bats this year?"
