UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen dodged a bullet at last week’s NFL Draft when the Cleveland Browns decided to take the Johnny Manziel route again with Baker Mayfield. While we all saw it as a blessing for Rosen, he was clearly a little pissed off when talking to media after the draft, and he’ll be even more annoyed with the Browns once he reads why VP of Player Personnel Alonzo Highsmith wasn’t a fan of his.
The odd story from CantonRep.com:
“I was at an airport,” he said. “UCLA’s volleyball team was in front of me. You heard so much about Rosen. He’s this or that. We all know how people talk.
“So I asked one of the volleyball coaches, ‘What’s Rosen like?’ He said, ‘Aaaaa, you should probably ask his girlfriend. She’s one of the players. She’s over there.’
“I’m like, ‘All right coach. That’s good enough.’
“I don’t know what all this means, but there was something about him that bothered me.”
And there you have it. Highsmith was “bothered” because a UCLA volleyball coach referred him to someone who actually knows Rosen quite a bit. Odd story, but there’s probably more to it given he had Rosen ranked No. 3 among all the quarterbacks.
Sidenote: Because we know you guys are wondering, the girlfriend volleyball player was Zana Muno. It’s worth noting they have since wiped photos of each other on their respective IGs so they may no longer be a thing.
