from FORT PIERCE POLICE DEPARTMENT/CBS12
Scott Frederick Wegener of Fort Pierce doesn’t look like the kind of guy who would make an IED out of a Canadian Mist bottle so he could blow up chickens, but then again, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a mugshot for a guy who made such an IED to blow up anything.
Here’s the kicker from a report from TCPalm.com: An anonymous caller told police that Scotty was in a dispute with someone over the theft of a BB gun and had offered to pay a friend to crawl under the man’s home to plant an IED.
CBS12 adds to the story on what was in that Mist bottle:
A man in Fort Pierce is accused of making a homemade bomb and hurling it at a yard full of chickens.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office arrested 55-year-old Scott Wegener.
A witness told police Wegener built an IED from a Canadian Mist bottle filled with black powder, sand and a green fuse. He ignited it and threw it in a backyard where the witness had some chickens, saying he wanted to kill them, according to the report.
Let’s go back to TCPalm on how this IED incident unfolded:
“Wegener pulled up to (the) house on the golf cart. They began to hang out. Wegener said he was going to kill the chickens in (the) yard. Wegener went to his golf cart and retrieved a Canadian Mist bottle filled with black powder, sand and a green fuse,” according to the affidavit.
Investigators said Wegener lit the fuse and threw the IED into the backyard, where it exploded.
All over a BB gun!
