Virginia guard Kyle Guy averaged 14 points on just 40 percent shooting this season, but he brought his play up another level in the ACC tournament. He led his team in scoring in each of his team’s wins (over Louisville, Clemson, and North Carolina) and was named the most outstanding player in the tourney. Business picks back up for this Guy and his No. 1 Cavaliers Friday against the UMBC Retrievers, which is apparently a team that exists.
Besides being the top scorer on a No. 1 team, Kyle was also made waves off the floor as he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Alexa Jenkins in February.
I’ve been waiting for this moment for 6 years. You’re my best friend, You’re more than I deserve, and I love you unconditionally. I had butterflies the first day we met and they haven’t gone away since and never will…
Alexa, who attends DePauw University, noted in her celebratory IG the two have been dating since eighth grade:
If you would have told 8th grade me that I’d be marrying you, I’d be hype because I had the biggest crush. But if you would have told 8th grade me that I’d be engaged at 20 I’d think I was insane. But little did I know that by 20 I’d experience the most crazy, fulfilling, forgiving, and unconditional love. How lucky am I to be able to experience this crazy life with a guy who makes my heart fuller than I can ever imagine.
