Let’s get a few things out of the way on this one: (1) I had no idea that there is an Icelandic professional basketball league; (2) I have no idea how guys in the Icelandic basketball league can keep track of where the out of bounds line is with all that action going on with the playing surface; (3) Icelandic refs can spot a nut grab technical foul a mile away, but NBA refs can’t see Bron Bron get hacked driving to the lane.
Now, why am I blogging the Icelandic NBA? Loyal BC reader, Jordan, sent word that he was watching his buddy play in this game featuring Akranes IA vs. Ungmennafelagio Snaefell and couldn’t believe it when a defender, Jon Frimannsson (Akranes), went with the old nut grab defense and dropped Runar Ragnarsson (Snaefell).
I’m pretty sure this is what frustration looks like in the Icelandic basketball league. Nut grabber Jon’s team is now 0-21 after getting throttled by Runar and Snaefell, 108-80. Jon finished with 7 points; Runar had 4.
