Even the holy roller, Tim Tebow, isn’t immune from the randomness that are freak spring training injuries. The NY Post’s Mike Puma got the 2018 Mets injury ledger going on Sunday by reporting Tebow stepped on a sprinkler head in the outfield and injured his left ankle:

So Tebow’s big spring training debut is delayed for a bit, no big deal. Tebow should be happy the injury isn’t too serious — sprinkler heads are known to do major damage this time of year… just ask Michael Saunders, who tore his meniscus a couple years ago.
And because this is the Mets, there are more injuries to touch on as first base prospect Dominic Smith is reportedly set for an MRI because of a quad issue:
Mets say Dom Smith has a strained right quad. He will have an MRI tomorrow.

Smith said his quad tightened running the bases yesterday.

Oh, and defensive wiz Juan Lagares already has a strained hammy:
Also, Lagares' injury has been reclassified from a "twinge" in the back of his leg to a strained left hamstring.

The good news here: none of the pitching arms have exploded. Yet.
