Looking for a darkhorse for serious NBC facetime if she can find a way to win a medal of some sort at the South Korea Olympics? Madison Chock, a pairs skater with Evan Bates, should be on your radar. She’s already been in one Olympics and pretty much has nothing to lose over the next week or so of competition.
Now here comes the bad news for those of you watching the pairs skating. Chock and Bates are dating off the ice.
Sounds like this has been developing for a few years. Inside Edition got to the bottom of it.
“Evan took me out to dinner for my 16th birthday and we went to Bahama Breeze,” Chock said. “It was really fun and he got me a hoodie, a zip-up hoodie from PINK, and it had turquoise letters. It was a very long time ago, but that was our first official date.”
Bates added: “It was like a childhood romance. We were so young.”
Chock was born July 2, 1992 in Torrance, Calif. She began skating at age 5 – as a singles skater – and moved to ice dance at age 12. With former partner Greg Zuerlein, she won a world junior title in 2009. She teamed up with Bates and debuted in the 2011-2012 season, making them a relatively young team, considering many of their rival couples have been together for nearly a decade, sometimes more.

• Finished 8th at Sochi Games
So incredibly happy to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. The Olympics are not just about sports, they are about the world coming together to inspire humanity, overcome our differences, and forge new friendships. #WinterOlympics #PyeongChang2018 pic.twitter.com/40fzLECPji
