What does a 5-10 season look like in the stands at Soldier Field? It looks like a war between Chicago Bears fans who clearly weren’t in the Christmas Eve spirit Sunday during a worthless game against the Browns.
• 1 beer thrown
• Couple of knockdown punches
• 1 security guard who was like “fucc this, I just want to get home for Christmas Eve dinner”
As for those of you wondering how winning that game screwed the Bears, ESPN now has them projected to draft in the 9th spot. A loss would’ve put them in the 4-5th spot.
The good news, if any exists for the Bears in 2017, is that Sunday’s opponent, Minnesota, is playing for a first-round bye. The Vikings (12-3) mopped the floor with the Bears 38-10 last year in Week 17 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The odds the Bears escape with a win on New Year’s Eve seem remote.
The Bears could also get help from the surging 49ers, who’ve won four straight since making the switch to Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback. The Niners, though, play Sunday at Los Angeles (11-4), so a victory is far from guaranteed.
