$900 – that was the starting bid for a pair of authentic autographed Jim Harbaugh khakis at a silent auction held Tuesday night at an end of the year banquet for the program.
Zero bids. Totally arrogant starting bid. Zero wiggle room to get the bidding started and energized. Michigan Men being Michigan men.
If anybody knows about bidding on famous sports pants, it’s this guy. #NeverForget that I bid on and won Cam Newton’s BCS game pants. This is my world.
Again, the starting bid was arrogant. Unique? Absolutely. Would I buy the pants and come up with a marketing plan around the pants? Damn right I would. Where would I have started the bid? $300. Instant action. I’d have a bid in immediately and I can’t stand the guy.
Here’s an even better idea:
• Take a deck of cards – 52 cards
• Sell a card for $20 to these cheap Michigan Men
• Rip the card in half, throw it into a hat
• BOOOM – $1,040 for the Harbaugh pants
• Pick a winning card, everyone moves on & doesn’t feel like they were ripped off
