Herm Edwards Chugging Along On ESPN Even With That New Coaching Job

Wait, what? Herm’s already back to doing NFL Live after jetting off to the desert to take the Arizona State coaching job. This all seems like too much for a 63-year-old coach, but I guess if anyone can pull it off, it would be Herm. Someone at ESPN probably asked him if he wanted to talk real quick and there was a recruiting visit in Connecticut that could wait until tonight after dinner.

Now, there will be the segment of Twitter and society that says this is the best recruiting tool Herm could have — a 2 p.m. spot on NFL Live. Uh, ask seniors in high school if they’re watching NFL Live at 11 a.m. on the west coast.

I’m going with “nah.”

shouldn't Herm Edwards be out recruiting right now? why is he on NFL Live?

You’ll also get the segment of social media that will say, “He has minions that will do the recruiting for him.” Folks, that’s stuff that Nick Saban can pull off. Herm is 6-26 over his last two years of coaching.

It appears that this is a going away week for Herm at ESPN. First Take had their office party this morning.

The good news here is that nobody really expects much out of ASU other than sorority girls making IG pic calendars, a great party scene and getting six wins and into a bowl game. This is the perfect place for Herm to enjoy for three years or so and then go back to the motivational circuit. Make a few bucks, go viral a few times with press conference inspirational speeches and ride off into the sunset. This is pretty much a dream way of capping off life.
