Disgraced former MLBer Rafael Palmeiro may look like he’s all about that middle-aged dad life in the fan photo above. However! Old Man Palmeiro apparently wants to make an MLB comeback… at the age of 53. He told The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal about his aspirations:
“There’s no doubt in my mind I can do it,” says Palmeiro, who ended his career as one of four players to reach both 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. “I’ve taken care of myself really well. I’ve been working out for years. Everything feels better than when I played.”
Of course, most of us remember Palmeiro adamantly denying his alleged steroid use before Congress in 2005:
He would go on to log his 3,000th career hit a couple weeks later, a feat which was tarnished after he tested positive for anabolic steroids. He claims the positive test was a byproduct of a B-12 vial given to him by former teammate Miguel Tejada.
Whatever the case, Rafael wants to come back and overtake Bartolo Colon for oldest geezer in the game. We’re rooting for him here at BC HQ given that we’re pro-steroids/HGH and love the dingers.
