Report: Donald Trump Asked China’s President For Help With the LiAngelo Ball Shoplifting Case

UCLA basketball players LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill, and Cody Riley are still in China almost a week after getting arrested for shoplifting, but their overseas nightmare may be coming to an end soon because a hero has stepped up — POTUS!

Yes. According to The Washington Post, Donald Trump asked China President Xi Jinping to help “resolve” the case during his stop in Beijing — more details from the report:

After Trump raised the matter, Xi promised to look into the case and ensure that the players are treated fairly and expeditiously, said a U.S. official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. Chief of Staff John F. Kelly has been in touch with the families of the players and has spoken with UCLA coach Steve Alford, and Kelly remains in contact with Chinese authorities, the official added. This official indicated that charges against the players have been reduced and that the case is proceeding toward a resolution.

And just like that, a Big Baller Brand-Donald Trump joint press conference has become a real possibility. It doesn’t get more 2017 than that.

With POTUS stepping in and Bill Walton apologizing on behalf of the human race, this scandal should be over soon:
