I’m pretty sure the Maryland higher ups sat in a meeting this week with a blank whiteboard and said: “What promotion can we create that will piss the most people off, while simultaneously showing how hypocritical and stupid we are?” That can be the only explanation for what we have going on here.
If Maryland runs back a punt today, some random drunk student who’s been tailgating all day and meandered their way into the stadium is going to get a fat check for 10 grand. Meanwhile, the guy actually running the kick back, who’s making the school a shitload of money, will get exactly zero.
Now, I’m not going to get into a “should we pay college players” discussion on my Saturday morning. I’m just here to eat and drink and watch football and point out how F’ing stupid these college administrators are. I’ll let the rest of the internet do the work for me.
