Kentucky senior Derek Willis wanted to do something special tonight for Senior Night at Rupp Arena, so he went out and bought a ring and proposed to his girlfriend Keely Potts while ESPN’s camera was rolling.
Romance is still alive in college basketball. Potts, also a UK student, wrote this on IG earlier today:
The day is finally here… Happy senior night to my best friend! It’s a bitter-sweet feeling knowing tonight will be the last night I get to watch you play in Rupp as a Kentucky Wildcat. It’s been my pleasure cheering you on the past 3 seasons and getting to watch you mold into the player you are today. You have grown so much through out your past four years here, and I am beyond proud of you. There is nothing you can’t over come, and I hope you remember that as you move forward. As this chapter of your life slowly comes to an end, I hope you can reflect back on all your memories you’ve made through out being at UK. I hope you’re proud of overcoming the many obstacles you faced to get where you are today. You are the best person I know and I can’t wait to cheer you on one last time in Rupp! So here’s to you, and your last home game- GO GET EM STUD

Willis, a 6’9″ senior from Mt. Washington, Kentucky, isn’t some scrub walk-on making this move. He plays about 20 minutes a game, averages seven points and five rebounds.
