I went out for Thai food last night with Mrs. BC and Little BC. It was his first trip to Thai so we didn’t know what to expect. He enjoyed the first few bites of dinner and then started to get moody and started going on about wanting something else for dinner when we got home. Of course I was edgy after a long day of working my ass off for you guys and wasn’t in the mood. All I wanted to do was enjoy my hot tea and curry soup. We planned on hitting Target after dinner, but I banned him from going on that part of the trip because I didn’t need a meltdown in the hand soap aisle.
Anyway, I head over to Target here in Perrysburg, Ohio and I’m taking my time. It’s late November. It’s dark. Pouring rain. Wind gusts around 30 mph. So I needed some sunlight and Target was providing it free. I took the cart around for a little shoppin’. I was cruising down to the hand soaps and noticed a nice rack of OSU hats. And then it hit me. There were multiple Iowa State hats for sale. No joke, I did a double take thinking that there was no way Iowa State gear was at Target. I sent out this tweet and the whole time I’m thinking I had the wrong school even though I do this sports stuff for a living.
Kinda strange. Target in Ohio selling a bunch of Iowa State gear. Must’ve been a shipping error pic.twitter.com/Eeh130oZcN

Shipping error was the first thought, but why not open the box, see that it’s Iowa State and ship it back to the warehouse. Then I start thinking that your average Target worker in Ohio wouldn’t know it’s Iowa State.
But there’s something else to this story: MATT CAMPBELL! THE COACH OF THE IOWA STATE CYCLONES FOOTBALL TEAM AND FORMER TOLEDO ROCKETS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH. MATT CAMPBELL LEFT TOLEDO AFTER THE 2015 SEASON!
Is this some sort of recruiting conspiracy between Iowa State and Target? Does Target allow football schools to pay to get their gear into certain areas? Is this some sort of sick marketing ploy to steal our boys out of NW Ohio? This is, after all, college football and sleazy is a way of business.
Think I’m crazy?
Hmm…you can’t fool us, Campbell!
Here’s another report of Iowa State trying to infiltrate Ohio. Us Ohioans know that Hilliard is fertile football grounds in suburban Columbus. Matt Campbell can’t fool us. We know what this is all about.
Walmart in Hilliard had a lot of ISU hats as well. https://t.co/7dqlc17QRC

Is it possible the Power 5 is using Target in vulnerable MAC neighborhoods to entice talent to look elsewhere for college? Something strange is going on and #MACtion should look into it.

Update: Target responds!
@bustedcoverage That is interesting. We’ll reach out to the Perrysburg store to check it out. Thanks for writing.
